Patagonia Windchaser Shirt
www.patagonia.com £50

We first used it as a layer under a sweat shirt. No problem. On warmer days it became the main piece of apparel and again no problem. Smartphone users will hanker after a bit of storage but for everyone else looking for a comfortable, light shirt on warmer days, this 100% recycled polyester top is just the ticket.
Verdict: Lightweight shirt that copes with a range of temperatures.

Salewa Puez Sport B T-shirt
www.salewa.com £25

A comfortable technical T-shirt which has great wicking properties delivered through a breathable, stretchy fabric. The material is soft, and the seams have been designed in such a way as not to create any irritation or chaffing throughout a run. It lacks some features but for an everyday garment it is comfortable and reasonably priced.
Verdict: A comfortable, fast-drying, everyday training shirt. 8/10

Columbia Titan Ultra
www.columbiasportswear.co.uk £50

The fit of this top is great, with a drop tail hem that also works well for yoga, when you need a top that won’t ride up. Worn under a windproof jacket it is cosy  and wicked away sweat when things got warmer. It washes well although it didn't smell even after an hour of tough running, so minimal care is needed.
Verdict: A versatile shirt which is useful for a number of activities. 7/10

Bellum Active Short-Sleeved QSkin
www.bellumactive.co.uk £53

The colour and style of this T-shirt is attractive. The fit is flattering, and the way the neckline and sleeves sit on the upper body make it extremely comfortable. The large pocket to the rear fits a phone. The shirt didn’t hold odours so needs less washing and it retained its shape and colour. The wicking properties are excellent.
Verdict: Excellent T-shirt that combines style and substance. 9/10

Berghaus Super tech Tee
www.berghaus.com £40

Thanks to its Argentium fabric technology, this top kept our tester cool and perfectly dry, and a quick sniff test proved its odour-combatting powers. A good summer choice, the fabric offers UPF 30+ protection, plus the air mesh portions provide ventilation. It was also good in the cold. A good choice for any weather.
Verdict: Superb for hot weather but also useful as winter baselayer. 8/10

inov8.PNG

Inov-8 AT/C Short Sleeve Half Zip
www.inov-8.com £47

This T-shirt is very lightweight. The shirt is close-fitting but comfortable. The half zip provides a level of air flow control which is welcome. Its no-seam cuffs and sleeves mean that there is no irritation or chafing, and for those looking to run with a backpack there is a barely noticeable, but useful, rucksack band in the neck collar.
Verdict: So light and fitted you can forget you’re even wearing it. 9/10

iffley road.PNG

Iffley Road Cambrian Striped DriRelease Tee
www.iffleyroad.com £68

An interesting shirt with a retro feel. Slightly heavier than rivals, it is a good choice for early to late spring where it’s just a bit cooler. It did create an unforeseen problem, however: overuse! It looks pretty good and thanks to its softer, heavier feel, it lends itself rather well to wearing off the trails, in everyday life.
Verdict: Heavier fabric brings comfort yet still performs well. 9/10
