Bombproof doesn’t quite do this Scott Sports shoe justice – it’d probably survive a nuclear war. The Virbram Megagrip outsole has an aggressive multi-directional tread, is grippy on slippery surfaces and feels tough and hardwearing… it is a clogger though. A rubber mesh all but encases the upper, making it almost invulnerable to sharp rocks and tree roots. It looks cool (imagine Spiderman in trail shoes) but a lot of that rubber is arguably unnecessary – it was the heaviest shoe in test. It was comfy though; there’s a good degree of cushioning, more towards the heel than the forefoot, but the 11mm drop feels a little high compared to other trail shoes.
A mountain bike tyre in shoe form. Indestructible, looks awesome, but a little heavy.
