A veritable tank of a shoe: if your sole requirement (no pun intended) is durability, this shoe is hard to beat. A chunky toecap and protective rand armour the shoe for mountain environments and the Gore-Tex version (tested) replaces the open mesh with a more durable (but less breathable) fabric. Due to the reinforced construction, it is incredibly stable on loose, shifting terrain; this model is also popular with ‘fast & light’ hikers. However, it’s fair to say the grip is more effective on hard trails and scree than deep mud. Salmon’s Sensift system and Quicklace technology keeps your foot perfectly secured within the shoe and the ride is cushioned but firm.
A bit clumpy for some but you won't turn many ankles and your toes will thank you.
