The Salomon XA Enduro is designed to look after your feet, with an integral gaiter built to keep grit out. It’s quite stiff, with a firm cushioned midsole and a 9mm drop. The upper is padded and comfortable, with great forefoot protection. The quick-lace system holds the foot well, and the heel counter gives the shoe a lot of support. The Enduro’s tread is designed for mountain running and works well on rock, gravel and most other surfaces as long as it’s not too muddy, as the tread isn’t particularly deep. We found the toe box fairly shallow compared with other shoes on test, although otherwise it sized normally.
VERDICT: A comfortable, protective general trail shoe with a hefty price tag.
