This waterproof trail-running shoe from Jack Wolfskin offers a comfortable, protective ride. The tread is reasonable but the lugs aren’t very deep, so it doesn’t cope well on slippery grass or deep mud. The upper is protective and combines with a heel stabiliser and stiff sole to hold your foot well, but the extra material creates a heavy shoe. There’s plenty of room inside, good for accommodating thicker socks or wider feet. The quick lacing is great but the elasticated straps for stowing the lace could be improved. It’s good value, especially as it’s waterproof, and would be an excellent approach shoe. 12mm drop.
VERDICT: A good value waterproof shoe that’s a bit heavy for running.
