These shoes possessed the best all-round grip on test – the range of underfoot conditions the tread excels on is truly phenomenal. Produced by INOV-8 the rubber is super sticky for rock and occasional bursts of wet pavement, and the lugs are long and well-spaced enough for mud, whilst still having enough surface area for harder, flatter surfaces. The mesh feels tough and good quality and there is a toe bumper, but protection is minimal. Despite the Gore-Tex membrane, this was still the lightest shoe on test – running in them was an absolute dream. The cushioning is firm and responsive and, despite the 9mm drop, you feel able to manoeuvre at speed.
Training, racing, mud, grit, rock, tarmac (shudder) – great all-rounder.
