Hoka One One have really upped their game with this serious 4mm-drop trail shoe. The grip is much more aggressive (5mm Vibram Mega-Grip lugs), with deep grooves in the sole, allowing the foot to flex through its movement (although mud can occasionally get suck).
Two different types of rubbers have been used on the sole: soft and hard, to help cope with and adapt to different types of terrain. The upper is lovely and light, with Hoka One One’s No Sew SpeedFrame.
This does a great job at screening debris, but leaves little room for the foot to breath, and drainage is still a bit of a problem. Support provided through cushioning and the Meta-Rocker is superb.
Comfortable, grips well and is highly supportive
