The Challenger is designed as a trail shoe, but the plush EVA midsole rocker means it runs well on the road as well. The grip is good on rock, gravel and dry grass, but doesn’t have the tread-depth for mud. It’s more precise than we expected and coped well on rocky technical trails where the stability and cushioning allowed for fast, accurate running. The lacing and padded inner allow you to get a good fit, but it was the smallest UK11 on test. Get the sizing right and it’s a very comfortable shoe, ideally suited to longer runs on dry, hard-packed trails. 5mm drop.
Padded and very comfortable – good for trail ultras or longer training.
