This Brooks shoe is padded well and fits snuggly around the heel, while being spacious on the forefoot. A 10mm drop keeps the heel out of harm’s way, while the Ballistic Rock Shield (a toughened thermoplastic layer between the mid and outer sole) protects the foot well from sharp rocks underfoot. It’s a heavy shoe and well padded, making it a comfortable ride. The grip isn’t as aggressive as others on test, but does the job well over hard-packed ground, gravel, grass and even wet surfaces. It did struggle more with mud. The four-point pivot system certainly helps grip on the trail when you need to move quickly over unexpected obstacles.
An extremely comfortable shoe, this is great for clocking up the miles.
