Jonathan Albon heads elite for Mt Awa Skyrace

The Migu Run Skyrunner World Series starts on April 21

Britain’s Skyrunning Ultra champion Jonathan Albon heads the entries for the Mt Awa Skyrace, the first leg of the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series, on April 21.

Albon will face strong competition from Marc and Oscar Casal Mir from Andorra, Ruy Ueda of Japan and Spaniards, Oriol Cardona and Pablo VillaIn as the 15-race series visits Japan for the first time.

USA’s Hillary Gerardi, the 2018 Sky Extra champion heads a women’s line-up which includes Emiiy Hawgood of Zimbabwe, USA’s Megan Kimmel, Anne Lise Rousset from France and Sheila Avilés of Spain.

“There are a lot of really strong and talented Japenese Skyrunners that we don't always get to see in races in Europe,” says Gerardi.

With 2400m of elevation gain, crossing snow-covered ridges to reach the top of Mt. Awagate, the event is known as the most technical skyrace ever organised in Japan.
