Hoka One One has launched a trail racing shoe designed to offer light weight without compromising on cushioning.

The Torrent x XTERRA was created with the collaboration of world-class Hoka trail athletes.

Staying comfortable in a trail race, as you would need to on a long ultra, often means carrying a little extra weight on your feet. However, the makers of the Torrent say it incorporates a combination of cushioning and agility, weighing in at around 250g.

Its PROFLY midsole is aimed at providing a forgiving landing and a responsive toe-off. Meanwhile, strategically placed hi-abrasion rubber zones enhance the lightweight durability.

Protective overlays around the forefoot and toe box provide protection against debris. The brand also promises high-traction rubber and multi-directional aggressive lugs, a breathable upper and quick-drying mesh.

The unisex shoe is available in two limited-edition colourways at £110 from Hoka’s site.
