Hillary Gerardi and Pascal Egli lead top runners due to assemble for the Matterhorn Ultraks in Switzerland on August 23-24.

Gerardi, who won last year’s Salomon Skyline Scotland, was the first of the elite runners to confirm her participation in the event, held in the shadow of one of Europe’s most famous mountains, the Matterhorn. The American, who is based in Chamonix, France, set a record in the Tromso Skyrace last year.

Switzerland’s Egli has a strong of top finishes to his name, including second in the Skyrace Comapedrosa in Andorra last year.

Swedish twins Lina and Sana El Kott, who were second and third respectively in the 32km race in the Ultraks two years ago, make their returns.

Two of the races in the Ultraks are already sold out, with a waiting list process in place. Click here for registration details. Distances vary from 19km to 49km and there is also a vertical kilometre.
