Two words: holy grip! Salomon’s ultra-sleek racing shoe is definitely designed with the muddiest of British trails in mind, with the 7mm lugs offering grip in the most extreme conditions. The EnergyCell midsole material is nimble and responsive for racing, whilst the upper keeps the elements out and your foot hugged. This design keeps the weight down, along with Quicklaces which secure your foot nicely. These are narrow, however, and may even require sizing-up to buy. As a specialist racing shoe, the price may not be justifiable to many who are looking for an everyday ‘mudder’, either. 4mm drop.
