A film featuring Pau Capell's UTMB sub-20-hour attempt last year has been released by North Face this week.
Breaking 20 documents the 2019 UTMB champion's attempt to run the fastest-ever time for the course.
With the race itself cancelled last summer due to the pandemic, the Spaniard took on the 171km course with 10,000 metres of elevation gain with just a small support crew.
Although he ultimately fell short of his goal with a time of 21 hours 17 minutes, the film gives a fascinating insight into the mental and physical trials associated with such an effort.
For his attempt in the Alps, he was wearing the new North Face Flight VECTIV, the world's first trail shoe to feature the carbon-plate technology that has revolutionised elite running times in track and road athletics.
Check out of the video below and look out for the brand new edition of Trail Running for more on the VECTIV.
