UTMB WINNER KILIAN JORNET URGES RUNNING COMMUNITY TO CONSIDER GIVING THE PLANTING OF A TREE AS A PRESENT
Kilian Jornet is supporting Trees Not Tees
Trail runner Kilian Jornet is teaming up with ecological campaign Trees Not Tees to encourage people to gift a tree this Christmas.
Trees Not Trees, cofounded by top British trail runner Jim Mann, works with race organisers to give runners the opportunity to plant a tree rather than receive a T-shirt that they may not use and will end up and landfill.
Supporters can order the planting of a tree for £5 and will receive this certificate
The leaders of the project, who own part of a forest in North Aryshire, are counting on the festive spirit to help the planet by allowing anyone to sponsor the planting of a tree. On their site, you can now order a tree for £5. When you do, you’ll receive an e-certificate with a photo of your sapling, the exact location and species of your sapling.
Jornet, who is well known for his environmentally friendly aims, can be seen in the video below asking viewers to consider what they can do to be greener this Christmas. The three-time UTMB champion says he will be eating vegan meals and donating rather than buying gifts
