Trail running superstar Kilian Jornet is offering two lucky people the chance to stay overnight in a glass pod and enjoy the chance to run amid the volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys region of France for just 1€.

The three-time UTMB champion has teamed up with Volvic and Airbnb to promote this one-off, first-come-first-served opportunity.

Those interested in the package - which will include a welcome video call from Jornet himself, a hot air balloon flight and a meal prepared by a Michelin-starred chef - will need to be standing ready at their laptops next Monday (July 19) at 9am local time (8am BST), which is when booking opens. The promotion is not a contest but seemingly whoever is successful will have shown racing-like speed on their online devices.

Trail Running magazine was fortunate enough to experience the magnificent volcanic range in the centre of France two years ago in connection with the Volvic Volcanic Experience trail race.

The package for the stay on September 18-19 includes: · A virtual welcome video call from host Kilian Jornet.

· A guided tour from the on-site team to learn about the rich biodiversity of the natural park,

· A locally-sourced dinner for two by local Michelin star chef Adrien Descouls.

· A private morning yoga session with breathtaking views of sunrise over the volcano’s peak.

· A volcanic hike designed by Volvic global ambassador and host Kilian Jornet.

· A hot air balloon ride overlooking the Chaîne des Puys Volcanoes (pending weather conditions).

Travellers will spend the night surrounded by 80 volcanoes in a “LUMIPOD”, a glass mini-house combining interior and exterior space through curved and sliding glass roofs offering a 180° panoramic view.

Writing on the Airbnb booking page, Jornet says: "Volvic and I are offering two guests of honour the unique opportunity to experience nature in the most epic way possible — in the heart of the Chaîne des Puys volcanic field in France with a jaw-dropping ‘Volcano view’. Guests will be able to immerse in a pristine environment and partake in a variety of adventurous activities."

Jornet has a long-held association with the area, which is popular with trail runners, and is an ambassador for Volvic. Profits from the promotion will reportedly go to the Kilian Jornet Foundation, which campaigns for preservation of the mountain environment.

In accordance with pandemic guidelines, the booking will only be taken by those who can provide proof that they live together.
