Scarpa are delving into the trail-running market with full force. Designed for a narrow foot, these fit snugly despite being rather chunky. Aggressive lugs give good grip over rough terrain and, coupled with a dual EVA sole and 6mm drop, the support underfoot is brilliant. They coped well over rock and mud. A solid rubber toe cap helps to protect the foot, too. The sole is stiff, with a slightly more flexible forefoot, meaning when you’re covering technical terrain your foot is well protected underneath. I would have preferred more substantial lacing but they’re easily substituted if needed. Extra padding around the heel would also be beneficial for comfort.
Ideal for long trails over technical ground, but make sure they’re fastened well.
