Francois D'Haene and Nuria Picas were first man and woman in the Ultra-Trail du Tour du Mont Blanc on Saturday after 167km of gruelling running.

France's D'Haene crossed the finish line in Chamonix in 19 hours 1 minute 32 seconds to claim victory in the world's most prestigious mountain race for the third time. Spanish trail legend Kilian Jornet was second, 15:06 behind.

The margin on the women's side was smaller as Spain's Picas came home in 25:46:43 - less than three minutes ahead of Switzerland's Andrea Huser.
